Marcia Gail Cope, known affectionately as Gail to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2023, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Marcia Gail Cope was born on June 12, 1953, in Saint Louis, Missouri to William and Terzah (McClain) Cope.

Gail was a proud graduate of Fort Zumwalt High School, class of 1971. She dedicated her career to advocating for patient care and ensuring proper insurance coverage for medical expenses, a passion that led her to long-term roles at both Siteman Cancer Center and Missouri Cancer Center. Her tireless work in these positions not only benefited countless individuals but also reflected her deep-seated belief in the right to quality healthcare.

After retiring, Gail chose Sullivan, Missouri, to be her final home. Here she enjoyed spending time with family, creating beautiful paintings and researching genealogy. One of Gail's most cherished memories was the recent girls' trip to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, with her sister, Donna.

Gail's love for music was undeniable, particularly her admiration for Pink Floyd. She was often seen donning her favorite Pink Floyd T-shirt, a testament to her lifelong fandom. Her dedication to maintaining lifelong friendships was evident in her monthly gatherings with former classmates, a tradition that kept their bonds strong.

Gail is survived by her son, Scott Fogelbach; a brother, Michael Cope and wife, Barbara; two sisters, Donna Cope and Nancy Anderson and husband, Gary; adopted daughters, Jill Hagedorn and husband Rick and Tanya Rapp; a host of adopted grandkids; her beloved dog, PeeWee.; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Terzah (McClain) Cope and her best friend, Bonnie Barth.

A Remembrance Graveside Service will be held, 2 PM, Wednesday, January 3, 2023 at the Old Argo Cemetery in Sullivan, Missouri.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
