Mae Lou Fredeking

Mae Lou (Davis) Fredeking of Sullivan, Missouri, departed this life on March 12, 2023, at the age of 90, as family members surrounded her in love.

Mae Lou was born on July 9, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri to Geoffrey O. and Blanche C. (Zimmerman) Davis. Her family moved to Sullivan in December of 1946. Mae Lou graduated from Sullivan High School, class of 1951. Then on October 13, 1951 she married the love of her life, Howard E. Fredeking. Together they celebrated 70 wonderful years of marriage, and were blessed with three adoring children.

Mae Lou was a dedicated member of her church and a caring citizen of her community and spent her life in devoted service to others in need. From the time she joined in 1950, Mae Lou was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Sullivan, Missouri. She taught Sunday School and was an advisor to junior and senior high youth for many years. She was then ordained as a deacon in 1976, and later as an elder in 1980. Mae Lou also volunteered for many ministries and served on numerous other committees in the work of her church.

Mae Lou worked as the secretary of First Presbyterian Church for 11 years, and later in an administrative capacity for Four County Mental Health.

Mae Lou was a charter member of the hospital auxiliary. She helped organize SEA (Sullivan Emergency Assistance) program for crisis intervention, and served as a member of the Board of Directors for over 30 years. Mae Lou also performed volunteer office work at the Senior Center. She and Howard helped transport people to medical appointments in St. Louis and surrounding communities, as well as delivered Meals on Wheels together for a number of years.

Mae Lou leaves behind three children: Sandi Libhart of South Hill, Virginia, James (Theresa) Fredeking of Lake St. Louis, Missouri and Karen (David) Bauer of Springfield, Missouri; nine grandchildren: Reggie (Elza) Libhart of Ridgfield, Connecticut, Chris (Margaret) Libhart of Townsend, Delaware, Brad (Angie) Libhart and Leslie (Josh) Deaton all of Charleston, South Carolina, Brittney Bauer of New Orleans, Louisiana, Sam (Brandi) Fredeking of Washington, Missouri,  Anna (Dustin) Kneemiller of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, Abbie (Kyle) Kloeppel of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina and Nic Bauer of Fayetteville, Arkansas; nine great-grandchildren: Ashley and Savannah Libhart, Phoebe Libhart, Cole and Gabe Libhart, Elise and Neely Deaton, Calvin Fredeking, and Jocelyn Kneemiller.  She will also be deeply missed by her brother, Geoff (Carol) Davis of Balboa, CA, and sister, Carolyn Powers of Bowling Green, KY along with many nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; parents, Blanche and Geoffrey Davis; a son-in-law, Jim Libhart; two brothers: Arthur Davis and William Davis; two sisters: infant Mary Frances Davis, and Martha Schoonover.

Services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 18, 2023 at the First Presbyterian Church in Sullivan, MO with Pastor Kathleen Kraus officiating. Burial will follow in I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery, Sullivan.

Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, March 17, 2023 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Memorial contributions be made in Mae Lou's memory to First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or Mercy Hospice.
