Chris Kruse, 69, of Bourbon, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at her home.

L. Christine Kruse was born August 14, 1954, in Rolla, Missouri, to Hans and Louisa (Hume) Kruse. Chris grew up and attended school in Bourbon. Shortly after high school, Chris became a farrier and then attended trade school to become certified in artificial insemination for cattle.

Chris was a talented musician and traveled locally while performing as a drummer in several rock and roll and country western bands. Eventually, she became a self-employed farmer and took pride in raising angus and charolais cattle for over 40 years. For the past 20 years, Chris was also employed by the Bourbon School District as a custodial engineer and most recently as a groundskeeper. Chris’ colleagues within the Bourbon School District remember her as being someone that would always be willing to lend a helping hand. Chris loved her job and especially her work family.

Chris was a quiet soul and was fiercely independent. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

Chris is survived by her three siblings: Fred Kruse and wife Janey of Cuba, MO, Karen Higgins and husband Ernest of Colorado Springs, CO, and Ann Kruse of Affton, MO; 10 nieces and nephews: Melissa Kruse, Melanie Swope and husband KC, Ed Kruse and wife Cristy, Jacob Kruse and wife Amanda, Stephanie Thomson and husband Spencer, Megan Hampton and husband Delbert, Zack Bowersox and wife Kate, Josh Bowersox and wife Maegan, Tom Higgins and Becky Adams and husband Mark; a host of great and great – great nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Patricia Kruse of Cuba, MO; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Louisa; a brother, Mike Kruse; her paternal and maternal grandparents and her beloved pup, Bugsey.

Arrangements for cremation have taken place, no services are planned at this time. Per Chris’ wishes, she will be laid to rest on her farm where she loved to be.
