Lorraine E. Peebles, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Sullivan, MO on July 6, 2023. Born on December 6, 1938 in Union, MO, Lorraine lived a life defined by faith, family, and love for people.

Lorraine was an alumna of Fontebonne University, where she developed her passion for education. She began her professional journey as an elementary teacher at Immaculate Conception in Union, MO. After marrying George, she transitioned into a role as a bookkeeper for Apollo’s Fireworks, where she remained until her retirement. Her love for people led her to a post-retirement position at Glik's, where she thoroughly enjoyed interacting with customers and keeping current on local events.

Lorraine's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a devout member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, where she not only attended services but also volunteered her time and energy. She was instrumental in ensuring her family's active participation in church activities. Lorraine also extended her volunteer work to the Sullivan Hospital, demonstrating her selfless nature.

Beyond her professional and religious commitments, Lorraine found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved entertaining family and friends at her cabin on the Meramec in Stanton. These gatherings were a testament to her warm hospitality and her ability to create lasting memories.

Lorraine leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory. She is survived by her children, Daniel Peebles and his wife, Diane of Sullivan, MO, Kenneth Peebles and his wife, Gayle, of Sullivan, MO, Her legacy continues with her grandchildren, Jennica Corn and her husband, Nathan of Ellisville, MO, Austin Peebles and his wife, Sarah of Sullivan, MO, Lindsey Weiland and her husband, Adam of Sullivan, MO, and Jacob Peebles of Sullivan, MO, and her great-grandchildren, Blair and Saige Weiland.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George A. Peebles; her parents, William and Emma Hoelscher; and her three siblings: Walter Hoelscher, Geraldine Straatmann-Dueker, and Mary Walters.

A funeral mass will be celebrated 11AM, Friday, July 14, 2023 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Sullivan. Inurnment will follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be 9-11AM, Friday, July 14, 2023 at St. Anthony Catholic Church prior to the mass.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony Catholic School.
