Lorraine A. Dudzik
Lorraine A. Dudzik, 78, of Rosebud, MO passed away peacefully on September 18, 2022 at Life Care Center of Sullivan.
Lorraine Audrey Edwards was born September 20, 1943 in St. Louis, MO to Roy B. and Alice (Brand) Edwards. She graduated from Sullivan High School, class of 1961, and went on to pursue a degree in journalism from the University of Missouri – Columbia. Lorraine was united in marriage to Frank J. Dudzik on February 2, 1963, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Sullivan, MO. To this union, three children were born: Matthew, Laura, and Dawn.
Lorraine was employed by the Strain-Japan R-XVI school district as both a secretary and a substitute teacher. Later, she was an income maintenance supervisor for the State of Missouri Department of Social Services. She retired in July of 2000.
Lorraine was generous by nature and enjoyed helping those in need through her career as a case worker, as a volunteer with the St. Vincent De Paul Society, and through her own charitable efforts. She was an avid reader, enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, knitting, crocheting, and making quilts. When it came to physical labor, she never hesitated, whether it was gardening, farm work, or construction projects.
Lorraine is survived by her three children: Matthew Dudzik of Rosebud, MO, Laura Froning and husband Jeff of Bourbon, MO, and Dawn Froning and husband Timothy of Cooper Hill, MO; two brothers, John Edwards and wife Mary of Spring Bluff, MO and James Edwards and wife Gail of Siloam Springs, AR; a brother-in-law, Thomas Dudzik of Columbia, MO; four grandchildren: Geoffrey Froning and significant other Madison Goodman of Bourbon, MO, Michael Froning and significant other Christie Fritz of Saint Louis, MO, Gregory Froning of Leasburg, MO, and Audrey Froning and significant other John Schweer of Cooper Hill, MO; a great-grandson, Drawe Froning of Leasburg, MO; nieces and nephews: Andy Edwards, Brian Edwards, Spring (Edwards) Biehl, James Edwards, Jr., and Sheri (Edwards) Cosgrove; her cousins: Bob Edwards, David Edwards, and Jamie (Edwards) Barringhaus; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, who passed on August 13, 2006; and her parents, Roy and Alice Edwards.
Funeral Mass was 10 a.m., Friday, September 23, 2022 at Holy Martyrs of Japan Catholic Church, with Father Tim Henderson celebrating. Interment followed in Holy Martyrs Cemetery.
Visitation was 4 - 8 p.m., Thursday, September 22, 2022 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
