Linda S. Wayland, 73, of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.

Linda Sue Wayland was born August 16, 1949 in Helena, AR to John and Susie (Pounders) Posey. She grew up and attended school in various states across the midwest. Linda was united in marriage to Ronald Wayland in July of 1965 and to their union four children were born: Ronald, Tammy, James, and Kristy. Together they raised their family in Ballwin and Waterloo, Illinois. Linda remained a homemaker while raising her children before going to work in home health care and cleaning once her children were grown. Sadly, Linda and Ronald later divorced.

Linda enjoyed spending time at home watching various movies, the ID Channel and HGTV. She also loved playing spades, thrift shopping and dining out at Red Lobster when she had the chance. For the most part, Linda was a homebody; but while her health allowed, she treasured time visiting her niece, Sandy in Florida over the Christmas holiday. She especially treasured her grandchildren and great – grandchildren.

Linda was often described as an ornery, funny, and stubborn lady; but above all she was a loving, and devoted mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Linda is survived by her four children: Ronald Wayland of Edwardsville, IL, Tammy Bequette of Dittmer, MO, James Wayland of Columbia, IL, Kristy Gahn and husband Travis of Cuba, MO; two grandsons, Trey Gahn and wife Victoria of Cuba, MO and Joshua Rickenberg and wife Natalie of Dittmer, MO; five great – grandchildren: Xavier Chase, JJ, Sophie, Luna and Amara; two brothers: Pete and Ray Posey of Waterloo, IL; two sisters, Joyce Guebert of Waterloo, IL, Dessy Prince Muscle Shoals, AL; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers: Truman, Johnny, Butch, Lee and Bill Posey; three sisters: Eileen Vandever, Glenda Byrd, Earnestine Myhan.

Arrangements for cremation have taken place.

A Celebration of Life will be held 1 – 4:30 PM, Sunday, May 14, 2023 at Wes Fallen Lakes Clubhouse in Waterloo, IL.
