Linda Marie (Glaser) James, of Farmington, passed away on November 26, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Sullivan, Missouri, on June 20, 1949, to the late Oscar and Regina (Betke) Glaser of Sullivan. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Theresa Houser and her uncle, Emil Glaser.

 

Linda retired from teaching Home Economics and Special Education at Central High School and later Special Education at Eastern Regional Diagnostic Correctional Center. She was a member of the Farmington Presbyterian Church and had been a member of the Lions Club where she was awarded the Melvin Jones Award for her work with the state youth and hearing committees. She enjoyed collecting and trying new recipes, fishing, gardening, and all kinds of needle craft.

 

Linda is survived by her husband of 53 years, Marshall James, her daughter, Joanne (Dale) Mabrey, her grandchildren, Jesilyn and Ethan Mabrey all of Lanett, Alabama, her brothers, John, Norman and August Glaser, her brother-in-law, Bill Houser, her nephews, Micah (Claire) and Mark (Dawn) and their children, Ada and Silas all of Sullivan, and lifelong friends, Jim and Gayle Truesdell of St. Louis, along with many friends.

 

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel officiated by Reverend Racquel Tomacruz. A private inurnment will take place at a later date at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Sullivan. Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to Presbyterian Women of the Church (PWOC), P.O.
