Leo Brewer, age 97, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Monday, Feb. 15, 2021 at Oak Pointe Nursing Center – Warrenton, MO. 

Leo was born in Bourbon, MO, July 10, 1923, to John Hiram and Lilley Jane (Calvin) Brewer. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Leo was a Carpenters Mate 2nd Class in the 82nd Construction Battalion (Seabee) in Noumea and Okinawa. He was also a member of the Honor Flight. Leo was united in marriage to Virginia Dorson and they were able to celebrate 65 years together before her passing in 2011. Leo was a simple man, who enjoyed farming and working with his cattle. He was a professional carpenter and worked in the industry all of his life. Leo had a lot of common sense. He wasn’t one who angered easily, nor reverted to shouting. 

Leo is survived by his two children, Leo F. Brewer and wife, Shirley, of Marthasville, MO, and Nova Jean Grande and husband, Jerry, of Venice, FL; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Brewer; his parents, John and Lilly Brewer; two brothers, Clarence and Floyd Brewer; and four sisters: Edna Tayloe, Anna Mae Kramer, Minnie Dill and Jean Chandler. 

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, prior to the funeral service at Eaton Funeral Home.
