LaRue M. Bryant, 95, of Sullivan, MO, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her family. 

LaRue Marie was born in Elmont, Missouri, February 20, 1926, to Otto and Matilda (Ruwwe) Kleager. She attended and graduated from Sullivan High School, Class of 1943. LaRue was united in marriage to Thomas J. Bryant on May 7, 1944, and they were blessed with three children: Shirley “Jean”, Sherry and Ron. LaRue was a housewife and also worked outside of the home as a cook for the Sullivan High School, and later, as a floral designer for Bishop Florist. LaRue was an active member of the Eastern Star Sullivan Chapter #105 and a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church. In her spare time, LaRue enjoyed walking, feeding her hummingbirds and watching St. Louis Cardinals Baseball.

LaRue is survived by two daughters: Shirley “Jean” Sterle and her husband, Fred, of Centerview, MO, and Sherry Bellafiore and her husband, Tony, of Smithville, MO; a son, Ron Bryant and his wife, Terri, of Grain Valley, MO; a stepson, Tom Bryant and his wife, Vi, of Sullivan, MO; six grandchildren: Keith Shelton and his wife, Joni, of Centerview, MO, Doug Shelton and his wife, Stephanie, of Cuba, MO, Angela Jones and her husband, Steven, of Turney, MO, Corinne Baker of Blue Springs, MO, Adam Bryant of Grain Valley, MO, and Sam Bryant of Grain Valley, MO; eleven great-grandchildren: Eva, Jeanette, Luke, Lauryn, Alek, Callie, Owen, Nolan, Jaxon, Phoebe and Olivia; and other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; her parents, Otto and Matilda Kleager; and a brother, Gervis Kleager.

Cremation arrangements have taken place. Eastern Star services were held 12:30 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 13, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Ron Kopplemann officiating. She will be inurned next to her husband, Thomas, in I.O.O. F. Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation was held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, prior to the services at First Presbyterian Church in Sullivan.

Memorial contributions in LaRue’s memory may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children and/or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home of Sullivan, MO.
