Kevin M. Prunty

Kevin M. Prunty, 70, of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2023, at his home in Sullivan, Missouri.
Kevin was born August 1, 1952 to John and Majorie (Smith) Prunty in Saint Louis, Missouri. Kevin was proud graduate of Hazelwood High School. From a young age, he showed a strong interest in mechanics and anything with an engine. This passion led him to a fulfilling career as a mechanic, later becoming as automotive service advisor. His love for engines didn't stop with cars, as he also became a proud owner of many motorcycles over the years including a Royal Enfield motorcycle and his beloved Harley Davidson.
In his free time, Kevin pursued various interests and hobbies that showcased his adventurous spirit. He loved playing drums, boxing, skydiving and was an avid motorcycle rider. Kevin was also a longtime member of Friends with Bill W., where he cultivated this relationship for over 35 years. His passion for flying led him to become a private pilot owning multiple of his own airplanes and was a proud member of the Barn Stormers Flying Club and Flying Club EAA. He also enjoyed collecting and restoring guns, even having his own shooting range in the basement of his home. Kevin never knew a stranger and was lovingly known for being quick witted, annoyingly optimistic and most importantly, never late for dinner.
Kevin is survived by his four sons, John Prunty and wife Trish, Joe Prunty and wife Akiko, Matt Prater and wife Leah, and Curtis Prunty and wife Aubrey; a daughter, Nichole Prunty; three brothers, Marty Prunty and wife Anna, Tom Prunty, and Brian Prunty and wife Theresa; two sisters, Jan Scott and Eileen Bax and husband Richard; nine grandchildren: Emma, Joseph, Michael, Thomas, Kade, Kai, Molly, Alexa, and Graysen; significant other of the late John Prunty, Diane Andrews; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marjorie; a brother, John Prunty; and a brother-in-law, Pat Scott.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 5:30 PM, Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the First Baptist Church of Leasburg.
