Kathy J. Byrd

Kathy J. Byrd, 65, of Leasburg, MO, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family, on Monday, May 31, 2021.

Kathy Jean was born March 3, 1956 in Sullivan, MO, to Harold Gene and Betty Jean (Carey) Byrd. Kathy grew up and attended Bourbon High School. Kathy went on to continue her education and was trained in medical transcription. She was employed as a transcriptionist at Washington University Hospital in St. Louis for ten years, and then at BJC Hospital in Sullivan for fifteen years.

Kathy enjoyed reading, spending time outdoors, swinging on her front porch and camping. Most of all, she adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Kathy will be missed by her family and many friends.

Kathy is survived by her three children: Tracy Dace of Bourbon, MO, J. C. Lowman of Cuba, MO, and Alisha Lowman of Cuba, MO; her mother, Betty Byrd of Leasburg, MO; three grandchildren: Daulton Lowman of Union, MO, Tracy Dace IV of Bourbon, MO, and Bella Matchell of Cuba, MO; one brother, Keith Byrd of Leasburg, MO; one sister, Karen Byrd-Ivie and husband, Mike, of Cuba, MO; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harold G. Byrd; her grandparents: Joseph and Wyanetha Casey, James and Ruth Byrd and Paul and Helen Carey.

Cremation arrangements have taken place. Graveside services were conducted 1 p.m., Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Lea Cemetery in Leasburg.

All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Sullivan.
