Judith Mae Sibole was born October 14, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri to Rev. William and Orpha (Wideman) Sibole. She grew up and attended school in St. Clair, MO, graduating from St. Clair High School with the class of 1965. She loved music from a young age and had the honor of being Drum Majorette during her last couple of years of high school. Judi went to work as a young woman eventually working her way into management spending 30 years with Frick’s Market.

Judi married Thomas Calvin on June 25, 1975 in St. Clair. The story goes that the two, after finishing each of their shifts at Ingram’s Market on Main Street, left work together to be married by Judi’s father, Rev. Sibole. To this union they had their son, Christopher and she was also blessed to inherit Tom’s children: Meg, Jennifer, and Steve whom she always considered her own.

Those who knew Judi knew her love for life. Whether it be soaking up the sun outside by her pool or a beach somewhere, strolling through and picking in her garden, or enjoying “lake life” at their place in Lake St. Clair. She like canning and was also an avid cook. Judi really loved shopping which also translated into a passion for both decorating her home and always looking lovely & elegant. The family would say that it was Tom that liked to golf, and Judi loved to “dress the part”! Their pool always provided great memories, she especially liked laying by the pool as well as exercising in the pool but most of all Judi enjoyed watching the grandchildren swim.

Judi’s faith was a foundation in her life. Over the years she was a member of First Baptist Church in St. Clair and Temple Baptist Church in Sullivan. Over the years, Judi taught Sunday School, played piano & sang in choir, and was integral in Women Mission United. She also served with Gideons Auxiliary and Southern Baptist Missions for numerous years. Though her faith in the Lord was tested greatly upon the death of their son, Christopher at a young age, she still maintained hope in knowing she would be reunited with him one day. She will be missed by many family and friends.

Judi is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Tom Calvin of Sullivan, MO; four children: Margaret “Meg” Vogel and husband Gary of Washington, MO, Jennifer Hoffman of Sullivan, MO, Steve Calvin and wife Courtney of St. Clair, MO, and Deanna Massie and husband David of Imperial, MO; ten grandchildren: Ben Chapman of Washington, MO, Clay Chapman and wife Stacie of Marthasville, MO, Sam Chapman of Denver, CO, Kali Lovell and husband Tony of Vancouver, WA, Logan Hoffman and wife Sara, Landon Hoffman, & Lauren Hoffman all of Sullivan, MO, Sophia Calvin & Colton Calvin both of St. Clair, MO and Brandon Bishop of Imperial, MO; four great-grandchildren: Cash, Carter, Tyler, and Aria; two nephews: Dan Sibole and wife Annie of Union, MO and Rick Sibole of Washington, MO; brother-in-law, Tim Calvin and wife Carla of Murfreesboro, TN; sister-in-law, Debbie Brinker and husband Matt of Washington, MO; and numerous cousins, other relatives and many friends.
