Joseph William Murphy

Joseph William Murphy, 75, of Leasburg, MO, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Crabapple Village Senior Estates in St. Clair, with his wife Barbara by his side.
Joseph was born in St. Louis, MO, on February 7, 1947, to the late Joseph and Delores (Barkley) Murphy. Joe served as a police sergeant for the City of St. Louis for 39 years, and retired on March 5, 2005.
Later in life, he met Barbara Louise Jackson, and they were united in marriage on February 11, 1998. They were blessed with 24 years of marriage together.
Joe was a jack of all trades and he could build and fix almost anything. Joe loved Corvettes and was fortunate enough to have owned a 1977 red Corvette, which was his baby.
After retiring, Joe and Barbara made their final home in Leasburg, where they spent a lot of time trout fishing at their favorite state park, Montauk. Joe also loved all five of his dogs. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church of Bourbon, MO.
Joe is survived by his wife, Barbara Murphy, of Leasburg, MO; four children: Joseph Murphy and wife Deborah of Waterloo, IL, Lisa Murphy of Valley Park, MO, Jennifer Sweeney and husband Phil of Fenton, MO, and Cindy Decarlo of Leasburg, MO; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Kate Kutzar and husband Ed of Washington, MO and Maureen Calame and husband Kevin of Fort Worth, TX; other relatives and many friends.
Along with his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Weiderman.
Arrangements for cremation have taken place. A Memorial Mass was celebrated 1 p.m., on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at St. Francis Catholic Church of Bourbon.
