John W. Elliott

John Wayne Elliott, 73, of Sullivan, Missouri passed away peacefully on April 16, 2023, in Washington, Missouri. Born on December 15, 1949, in Mountain Grove, Missouri, John was the son of the late Carl and Faye (Ingram) Elliott.
John grew up mainly in Ava, Missouri and graduated from Ava High School in 1968. Following high school, he bravely fought in the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge from the US Army in 1970. After his military service, John moved to Northern Illinois and began working for Del Monte Corporation. He later worked for GTE and Verizon before retiring in 2001. John married Jody Brubacher on December 7, 1974, in Belvidere, Illinois. The couple moved to Sullivan following John's retirement, where they enjoyed their golden years together.
An avid golfer, John was a proud member of the Sullivan Country Club, where he spent countless hours on the course perfecting his swing. He was known for his witty and friendly demeanor, always ready with a joke to share or a kind word to brighten someone's day. He was a man who treasured his family and friends, always making sure they knew how important they were to him. John's loving, funny, and friendly nature will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
John's passing leaves a void in the hearts of his loved ones, but his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched with his love, laughter, and kindness.
John is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Jody; his sons, Jedediah Elliott of Sullivan, MO and Jonathan Elliott of Dallas, TX; his brothers: James Elliott of Hot Springs, AR, Bobby Elliott (wife Sandra) of Rochelle, IL, and Charles Elliott of Rockford, IL; his sisters: Vonda Stein (husband Steve) of Ava, MO, Mary Lou Ludwig of Mansfield, MO, Marilyn Kay Dickinson of Wichita, KS, and Becky Hampton of Ava, MO, Kim Weigl (sister-in-law) of Sullivan and Dalena Scholl (sister-in-law) of Owensville, MO. He was a proud grandfather to Braxton Elliott.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Faye Elliott; his brothers: Jerry Elliott and Edmund Elliott; and his sisters, Glenna Dougherty and Janice Kay Harris.
Cremation arrangements will take place and a celebration of John's life will be held at a later date.
