Joanna C. Hylton

Joanna C. Hylton, 94, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Missouri Baptist Hospital – Sullivan with her family by her side.

Joanna Corine was born in St. Louis, MO on June 1, 1928 to Dominic and Margaret Sgandurra Bommarito. Her parents immigrated from Sicily with two children and twelve dollars in their pocket. Joanna was the last of eleven children born to her parents. She graduated from Corpus Christi high school in St Louis and was united in marriage to Ralph Conrad Hylton on October 30, 1954 in Jennings, MO. Before she had a family, Joanna was employed by the government in the record center as a clerk. After the children came along, she was a stay-at-home mom caring for her family.  The Hylton family, which included six children, made their home in Sullivan from 1970 to the

present. Joanna had many talents, including furniture upholstery, collecting antiques, and flower gardening. She was of the Catholic faith and was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Sullivan. Joanna was a doting mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be loving remembered by her family and many friends.

Joanna is survived by her six children: Scott Hylton and wife Christine of St. Peters, MO, Carla Cooper and husband Monty of Sullivan, MO, Braden Hylton and wife Carla of Sullivan, MO, Daryl Hylton and wife Angela of Jefferson City, MO, Wade Hylton and wife Julie of Chesterfield, MO, and Ralph Hylton II and wife Pam of Maryville, IL; sixteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren, with one on the way; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Hylton; her parents, Dominic and Margareta Bommarito; and ten siblings.

Cremation arrangements have taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held from 12 to 4 p.m., Saturday, August 13, 2022 at the Eagles Hall in Sullivan, MO.

Arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Sullivan.
