im Keeney Sr., 86, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2022 at his home in Sullivan surrounded by his family.

Harold James Keeney was born February 29, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri to Calvin and Maude (Bryant) Keeney.  Jim grew up attending school between St. Louis and the Bourbon area.  He then went to work as a young man and on December 26, 1954 he was united in marriage to Patricia Lombardi.  He soon joined the Army and was honorably discharged in 1962.

Jim and Pat lived in St. Louis where he worked for an Ritepoint Ink Pen Company until they and their three children moved to Sullivan in 1977.  In Sullivan, Jim began his lifelong work of construction, building government housing and individual family homes.  In 1982 he started Keeney Construction where he owned and operated for the next 40 years.

Jim’s love for construction was matched by his love for golf.  He was an avid golfer and had been a member of the Sullivan Country Club since 1977.  He loved to take his family on vacation often traveling to warmer climates, such as, Florida, Hawaii, Aruba and the Bahamas.   He and Pat would also make frequent trips to Tunica.

Jim is survived his wife Patricia, of 67 years; a son, Jim Keeney Jr of Kansas City, Missouri; two daughters, Denise Sewald and husband, Steve of Sullivan and Theresa Yorty and husband, Patrick of St. Louis, Missouri; and five granddaughters; Danielle, Carolina, Sarah, Sydney, and Hayden.

He was preceded in death by his parents along with two brothers, Norman Keeney and Eugene Keeney.
