Jerry A. King, 84, of Bourbon, Missouri, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023, in Sullivan, Missouri at Missouri Baptist Hospital.

Jerry Allen King was born on April 5, 1939, in Leasburg, Missouri, to Dock and Nannie (Ray) King. Jerry’s early years were spent in Leasburg, where he attended the Liberty Township School. A determined and hardworking individual, he later completed his GED. Jerry briefly worked for Paramount before being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1962, serving his country with honor and distinction.

On April 8, 1966, Jerry married the love of his life, Joan Blanton, at the First Baptist Church in Bourbon, Missouri. The couple was blessed with two sons, Jerry Jr. and Glen. He worked at Steelweld Equipment for a short time before embarking on a successful career at Chrysler, where he dedicated 31 years of his life before retiring in 1999.

Jerry's commitment to service extended beyond his professional life. In his earlier years, Jerry was involved in the Boy Scouts and volunteered with the Red Cross. He and Joan also hosted foreign exchange students, opening their home and hearts to young people from around the world.

Despite his busy schedule, Jerry always made time for his family. He was a homebody at heart, cherishing the moments spent with his loved ones. He also had a keen interest in metal detecting and searching for arrowheads.

Jerry was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and camp. He particularly enjoyed spending time with his family on the Meramec River and at Onondaga State Park. In his later years, he still enjoyed spending time along the banks with his beloved pup, Lola at his side.
