Jerry J. Woods Jr., 66, of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Stonebridge Senior Living in Owensville.

Jerry Jean Woods was born April 13, 1958 in Almeda, California to Jerry Sr. and Karen (Shaffer) Woods. He grew up and received his education at McFall Schools in Manteca, CA, graduating in 1979. After high school, Jerry went to work in public education for over a decade at the San Joaquin school district as a teacher’s aide in special education. While living in California, Jerry was able to compete within the Special Olympics in various Track and Field competitions. Jerry was also privileged to compete in Los Angeles and meet multiple celebrities, a highlight of his life.

In 1993, Jerry relocated to Sullivan alongside his parents to make it his final home. Once residing in Sullivan, Jerry began working at Empac Group for several years.

Jerry loved the Saint Louis Cardinals, especially attending games with his uncle Bill and cousin Brian. He enjoyed performing Elvis classics during karaoke sessions and riding his golf cart around his property. Jerry was a jokester, goofy, always smiling, kind and big hearted. Above all, he loved Jesus.

Jerry was a treasured resident of Stonebridge Senior Living and genuinely enjoyed living there alongside his friends. He was even given the nickname “JerBear” by his caring and loving nursing staff. Ironically, Jerry’s sister Cheryl had called him “JerBear” his entire life.

Jerry is survived by his loving sister, Cheryl Lundy and husband Daniel of Sullivan, MO; five nieces and nephews: Matthew Lundy and wife Katie, Jonathan Lundy and wife Chloe, Amanda Lundy, Allen Woods and Nicole Woods; great nieces and nephews: Micah, Ezra, Anya, Geneva, and Phinehas; other relatives and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Jerry Sr. and Karen Woods; and a brother, Shawn Woods.

Graveside Services will be 1 PM, Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Liberty Cemetery in Steelville, Missouri with Pastor Dave Wright officiating.

Visitation will be 10 – 12 PM, Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, MO.
