James Bernard Juergens lifelong resident of Sullivan, MO, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023 at the age of 88 years.

James was born on January 18, 1935, in Sullivan to William Clarence and Fannie Emmaline (nee Offutt) Juergens. He married Romona Anne Chandler on July 21, 1956 in Hernando, Mississippi and to their union three children were born; James, Jay and Jeanine.

James served his country for four years in the United States Navy during the Korena Conflict. He served on the USS Kearsarge and had many stories of this time of his life. He then became a master of many trades. He was a journeyman carpenter and built three homes from the ground up. He was a master woodworker and built many beautiful pieces of furniture for family and friends. James was also a journeyman welder, avid hunter, fisherman, friend and storyteller. He enjoyed his friends, and his family always came first.

James is survived by two children, James “Jimmy” Juergens of Poplar Bluff, MO and Jeanine Palmer and husband James of Sullivan, MO; three grandchildren; Jackie Palmer of Shrewsbury, MO, Jamie Padgett of Sullivan, MO and Jeffery Juergens of West Plains, MO; one great-grandchild, Lucas Padgett; siblings, Paul Juergens and wife Jeanette of Sullivan, MO, Gary Juergens and wife Laura of Sullivan, MO, sister-in-law, Nancy Juergens of Washington, MO; brother-in-law, Lee Wagner of the state of Oregon; nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.

James was preceded in death by his wife Ramona Juergens; his son Jay Allen Juergens; his parents, William and Fannie Juergens; two brothers, Roy and Harold Dale Juergens; and two sisters, Audrey Wagner and Itress Juergens.

A Memorial funeral service will be conducted at 5:00 PM, Saturday, December 30, 2023 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan followed by full military honors.

The Juergens family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Saturday at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, MO.
