Helen P. Gould

Helen Gould, 93, of Sullivan, MO, went home to be with Jesus Wednesday, January 12, 2022. She passed at her home.

Helen Pauline Orr was born March 4, 1928 in Sagamore, PA the daughter of Elmer and Mary (McCauseland) Orr. She was united in marriage to Richard Brooks Gould on December 1, 1949, and to this union three children were born: Rebecca, Richard Jr., & Bridget. For much of her life, she worked as a painter in various auto body shops in various places before moving to Sullivan nearly 25 years ago. On October 9, 1998, Helen gave her heart to the Lord Jesus. It was evident that her life was forever changed and that she experienced complete peace for the first time in her life. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

In Helen’s words:

My bills are due, My finances few,

My bones are old, My feet are cold,

To all who see me, I live alone

But I fellowship with the Lord.

He clothes me with love.

He paid my atonement.

I am wealthy, joyful, and elated.

A mansion I do see, walls of love.

Timbers of forgiveness,

Windows of fellowship,

He has for me.

Helen is survived by her son & daughter, Richard “Brooks” Gould Jr. of Wichita, KS and Bridget Gould of Sullivan; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; a daughter, Rebecca Dresslar; her parents, Elmer & Mary Orr; a brother, Edwin Orr; and two sisters: Susie Wickens and Geneva Elkeberger.

Memorial services were 11 a.m., Monday, January 24, 2022 at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Perry officiating.    

Visitation was from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday prior to the service at church.

Memorial contributions may be made in Helen’s memory to the ministry fund of choice at Temple Baptist Church.
