Helen Knuckles, 72, of Bourbon, MO, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at StoneBridge Senior Living in Owensville, MO.

Helen Kay Hunter was born March 26, 1950 to William and Aileen (Wingrove) Hunter in Long Branch, West Virginia. She grew up and attended schools in West Virginia, New Mexico, and lastly Bourbon, MO, when her family relocated due to her father’s job in the mines.

Helen married Donn Knuckles on July 8, 1967 and to this union 3 children were born: Shawn, Heather, & Jennifer.  Helen and Donn raised their family in Bourbon and enjoyed taking the children to the river and going on float trips. She worked for Fashion Shoe Company and later for Sheltered Industries as a manufacturing manager.  In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and spending time with family and friends.

On November 18, 1973 Helen and Donn were baptized as Jehovah’s Witnesses.  Her faith was important to her and she enjoyed bringing meals to members of her church that were ill.  She was a naturally loving, joyful person who laughed easily.   She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.

Helen is survived by her husband of 55 years, Donn Knuckles, of Bourbon, MO; three children: Shawn Knuckles and partner Andrew Salas of Belton, TX; Heather Barnes of Cuba, MO; and Jennifer Stieferman and husband Aaron of California, MO; six grandchildren: John Barnes of Cuba, MO; Cameron Barnes of Bourbon, MO; Brady Barnes of Cuba, MO; Tyler Stieferman, Levi Stieferman, and Scarlett Stieferman all of California, MO; one great-grandchild: John Barnes Jr.; seven brothers: Lanny Hunter of Sullivan, MO; Tom Hunter, Patrick Hunter,  James Hunter, Gary Hunter and wife Donna, Larry Hunter and wife Frances all of Bourbon, MO; Randy Hunter of Cuba, MO; and other relatives and many friends.
