Glenn A. Benton, 81 of Sullivan, MO passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023 surrounded by his beloved family.

Glenn was born on January 20, 1942 in Gerald, Missouri to James and Martha (Bray) Benton. He was united in marriage to Wanda Landwehr on July 14, 1962 at the Champion City United Methodist Church. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage. They were blessed with two children, Jill and Allen.

At a young age, Glenn opened the first Dairy Kreme in Gerald, MO. He worked several years at the family-owned Benton’s Garage with his brothers. He then became a roofer with Altemeyer’s Roofing. In 1969, Glenn and Wanda purchased the Strain Store, which they ran for 10 years. After that Glenn enjoyed working at Herb’s Locker. In 1992, Glenn decided to open Glenn’s Meat Market in downtown Sullivan, MO. He ended his career at Voss’s Market in Beaufort, MO.

Glenn was an active member of the Champion City United Methodist Church and served as church treasurer for more than 25 years. He also served on the Cemetery Board.

Glenn treasured his time with his kids and grandkids and enjoyed family get-togethers. He and Wanda also enjoyed many wonderful trips.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Wanda Benton; two children, Jill Krupela and husband Paul, and Allen Benton and wife Sandy; three grandchildren, John Krupela and wife Nicole, Claire Krupela and Brett Benton; step-grandchildren, Terrick Ellis and wife Allison and Savannah Kempker and husband Clayton; sister in-laws, Lorraine Benton, June Schmidtke and Irma Vogt; brother-in-law, Melvin Landwehr and wife Janice; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, James and Martha (Bray) Benton; brothers Leroy (Ruby) Benton, Earl Benton and Herbert Benton; sisters, Sylvia (Floyd) Bailey and Ann (Clifford) Seba; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Eunice Piofcyk, Fred Schmidtke and LeOlin Vogt.

Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 PM, Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Mary Nienhueser officiating. Interment will follow in Champion City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, and from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Wednesday, at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Champion City Cemetery.
