Gary N. McMahan, 69, of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.

Gary Norman McMahan was born September 8, 1953 in Granite City, Illinois to Norman and Frances (Mercer) McMahan. He grew up and attended school in Granite City, later graduating from Triad High School in 1971. Shortly after his graduation his family relocated to the Sullivan area where he began working for Blanton Oil and soon met the love of his life, Vicki Weiskopf.

Gary and Vicki were united in marriage on July 26, 1979 in Sullivan, Missouri and were blessed with three children: Shane, Shelly and Samantha. They continued raising their family in Sullivan while Gary began work as a self-employed painter alongside his father, eventually continuing his career in painting at Mercy Hospital for 30 + years until his retirement in 2020.

Gary loved spending time outdoors on the farm and with his family. He especially enjoyed time spent with his eldest granddaughter, Taylor. He enjoyed raising and tending to his cattle and could often be found tooling around on the tractor. He also was a part of the American Kennel Club and would many times judge field trials. Gary was good with all animals. He also treasured time spent fishing with his grandkids and vacationing to Branson.

He was a supportive and kind husband, father and grandfather. He is dearly missed and will be lovingly remembered.

Gary is survived by his wife Vicki McMahan of Sullivan, MO; two daughters, Shelly Guehne and husband Robert of Sullivan, MO and Samantha Alu and husband Aldo of Sullivan, MO; 8 grandchildren; a brother, Kenny McMahan and fiancée, Beth of Sullivan, MO; a sister, Sandy McLendon and husband Rich of CA; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Shane McMahan; his parents, Norman and Frances; and a brother, Jim McMahan.

Funeral Mass was 11 a.m., September 20, 2022 at the St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Paul Telken celebrating. Interment followed at Laubinger Cemetery in Sullivan.
