Garden Ray Large

Garden Ray Large, age 63, of St. Peters, MO passed away of brain cancer, in Chesterfield, MO at BJC Hospice Facility Evelyn’s House on Oct. 19, 2022.
He was born on Jan. 8, 1959 to Leon C. Large and Carol P. Large (Nelson) in St. Louis, MO.
He was married to Teresa DeShaney on March 30, 1995 in St. Charles, MO. He was a loving husband and loving father to Brandon Large, Rachel Here, and Ashley Large.
He graduated from Bourbon High School in 1977. He worked at Sullivan Walmart and Union Walmart Sports Departments.
After this he went to work at Harvestowne Irrigation Company where he worked for 32 years, leaving many friends and co-workers there.
He was baptized at St. Peters Calvary Church. He always said “God is good” and “God is in control,” no matter how ill he was. He said he had a good life and had no complaints.
He loved to fish, spent many weekends fishing at Busch Wildlife area and on occasions at Montauk State Park.
He loved deer hunting with his brother Kenny at Steelville, MO.
Gordon and Teresa had two chihuahua pups, Sophie and Flint, and a black cat, Shadow, who would lay beside him on the couch or bed.
He love to watch football games and auto races on TV while he was ill, played video games with his daughter Ashley.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife Teresa, who took care of him for 15 months, was a loving to his son, Brandon (Kirsten) Large, daughters, Rachel (Justin) Haenel, and Ashley Large. His loving mother, Carol P. Large (Nelson), loving brothers, Ken (Fayetta) Large, Tom (Bethany) Large, loving sisters, Donna (Russ) Stein, Robin (Ron) Williams and Judy Large.
Step-mother, Vickie Large and half-siblings, Mary Beth, Melissa, Lisa, Karen, Jason, Kathy, Mark, Joe, Robert and Andy.
His mother-in-law Donna (Jay) Deshaney, father-in-law, Daniel (Cheryl) Deshaney.
Gordon’s first wife, Susie (Miles) Hawthrone, mother of Derek and Brandon.
Brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceeded in death by his father, Leon C. Large; son, Derek Large; brother Darren Large; grandparents; uncles; aunts; cousins; and many friends.
Visitation was at New Comer Funeral Home on Oct. 28, 2022, funeral there on Oct. 29, 2022.
Interment at Adams Cemetery in Frankly, MO.
