Frederick C. ‘Butch’ Miller

Frederick C. “Butch” Miller, 61, of Bourbon, MO, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 9, 2022.

Butch was born October 21, 1960 in Houston, TX the son of Charles and Mary (Patterson) Miller. He grew up and attended school in Spring Bluff and eventually Sullivan, graduating with the class of 1979. Butch married the love of his life, Debra Witcher on March 9, 1985 in St. Clair, MO and to this union there were three children: Kenny, Krystle, and Mary. For much of his life, Butch has loved to work. He developed a strong work ethic while he was a young man and it continued up until his last days while receiving treatments for his illness. Early in his life he worked for Meramec Canoe and eventually would spend the next 36 years in managerial roles for Butler Supply in various locations nearby. He had tremendous regard for the Butler organization as well as his co-workers.

Butch loved playing softball locally in Sullivan and was well known for his home run hitting. He had fond memories of playing with his team Central Electric Supply/Electric from ’89-91. He had a tremendous heart for rescuing Saint Bernard’s throughout his life, taking in many dogs to provide care and attention over the years. Butch was also a diehard “Trekkie”, although partial to the original StarTrek version. He developed a collection of memorabilia and enjoyed visits to all things StarTrek. Most of all his family was most important to him. His grandkids called him Papa. He loved spending time with them which always included playing and giving them the best snacks!

Butch is survived by his wife of 37 years, Debbie Miller; his three children: Kenny Jennings of Springfield, MO, Krystle Reed and husband Kurtis of Spring Bluff, MO, and Mary Hulsey and husband Kyle of Sullivan, MO; four beloved grandchildren: Tucker, Caroline, Lorelai and Brilee; a brother, Roy Miller and wife, Cheryl of Troy, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Christena York; and his stepmother, Hazel Miller.

Services were held 11 a.m., Friday, May 13, 2022 at the Eaton Funeral Home of Sullivan with cremation to follow.

Visitation was held 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 12, 2022 at the funeral home.
