Ella ‘Jean’ Stueve-Dodd

Ella “Jean” Stueve-Dodd, 89, of Lonedell passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri.

Jean, daughter of Roscoe William Kunkel and wife Susie (Rush), was born March 22, 1933, in Evening Shade, Arkansas.

On March 7, 2007, she was united in marriage to Jerry Dodd at the Church of Christ in St Clair.

Jean attended school at Evening Shade, Arkansas, where she made All State in Arkansas Girls Basketball.  She worked as an upholstery assembler at General Motors, as a seamstress at Wonder Maid and as a flower arranger at Forget Me Not Florist.

Jean was a member of the DH Club, the Church of Christ in St Clair and later the Desoto Church of Christ.  In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, gardening, floral arranging,  fishing, bird & wildlife watching and cooking where she created the World’s Best homemade candies.

She was preceded in death by husband Robert Walter Stueve; her parents, Roscoe William and Susie Kunkel; brothers, Norman Kunkel, Billy Dean Kunkel, William Arnold Kunkel; granddaughter, Melissa Lawrence.

She is survived by her husband Jerry Dodd, sons, Larry Stueve of St Louis, Jeff Dodd and wife Tammy of Indiana, Curtis Dodd and wife Diana of O’Fallon; daughters, Belinda Devine of Florida, Kim Vogelsang and husband Jason of Lake St Louis: brother, Virgil Ray Kunkel of Arkansas; grandchildren, Lisa & Bradley Payne of Eureka, Julie & Brian Moore of Eureka, Audrey Dodd of Indiana, Sadie Dodd of Indiana, Joe Dodd of Indiana, Emily Lawrence of Sullivan, Elizabeth Lawrence of Sullivan, Ellie Lawrence of Sullivan; Great Grandchildren, Jaeda Meier, Anthony Moore, Matthew Moore; Special Friends, Jayne & Don Hobkirk of St Clair; nieces, nephews and many friends.

A visitation was held at Midlawn Funeral Home, 7280 Hwy 47, Union, Missouri on Sunday, June 5, 2022, from 4-8 p.m., with a funeral service on Monday, June 6, 2022, at 9 a.m., followed by a committal service at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St Louis at 10:45 a.m.
