Elizabeth Gail Steinbach, better known as Betsy, 74, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, November 4, 2021. She was surrounded by her family.

Elizabeth Gail Steinbach was born May 31, 1947 in Saint Louis, MO, to Charles and Bernice Shaffer. She grew up and attended school in Sullivan and graduated from Sullivan High School, class of 1965. Betsy was united in marriage to Daniel Steinbach on November 20, 1974. She brought her son, Robert, to the marriage, whom Daniel adopted as his own.

Following high school, Betsy pursued some secondary education in Rolla and Springfield. She then went to work for Walmart, where she remained for 25 years. While employed there, she worked in several different departments, such as sporting goods, the cash office and lay-a-way.

Betsy loved the Lord and was a faithful member of the Peace Lutheran Church of Sullivan. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by many.

Betsy is survived by her husband, Daniel Steinbach, of Sullivan, MO; a son, Robert Steinbach & wife Terri of Saint Peters, MO; two grandchildren, Andrea Steinbach of Saint Charles, MO & Christopher Steinbach of Saint Peters, MO; a brother, Charles “Chip” Shaffer and wife Fran of O’Fallon, IL; a sister, Mary Shaffer of Sullivan, MO; as well as other extended family members and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Bernice; and a sister, Susan Shaffer.

Arrangements for cremation have taken place. No services are planned at this time.
