Edward Eugene Parker Jr.

Edward Eugene Parker Jr., known affectionately as Jake to his loved ones, passed away tragically during the early morning hours on Monday, July 8, 2024, due to injuries sustained near Quapaw, Oklahoma. Born on November 19, 1960, in Steelville, Missouri, to Edward and Jean (Ives) Parker, Jake was a man whose life was defined by his dedication to his family, his work, and his passions.
Jake's early years were spent in the nurturing care of his grandparents, Landis and Irene Parker, in Steelville, where he formed an unbreakable bond that would influence his compassionate nature throughout his life. He grew up and attended local schools, laying down the roots of a community that would always hold a special place in his heart.
From a young age, Jake was no stranger to hard work. He began his professional journey helping his father with the family's tree cutting business, learning the value of diligence and commitment. His work ethic only grew stronger with time, and he soon found himself employed with Fleming Manufacturing in Cuba, Missouri. It was during this time that he met and married Tammy Copling, and together they were blessed with three sons: Edward III, Scott, and Jason. Jake cherished the joys of family life as they raised their children in Cuba.
After a brief time in Florida, Jake returned to his Missouri roots, where he continued working, this time in the meat department at Country Mart in Rolla. His life took a joyful turn when he met Joanna Hughes in 2010. The two married on April 13, 2012, blending their families and giving Jake the opportunity to embrace the role of a father to three daughters: Kristan, Danielle, and Hannah.
Jake's later years saw him return to the beginning of his career path, becoming self-employed as a tree trimmer. He and Joanna settled in St. James for a while before making their final home back in Cuba, Missouri, where he was surrounded by the community and the landscapes he loved dearly.
His interests were as varied as they were enthusiastic. Jake was an avid video game player, with "Call of Duty—Black OPS" being a particular favorite. He relished in the simple pleasures of life, such as going to the river for family hangouts, engaging in friendly games of pool, and playing "washers" in the yard with friends and family. However, it was his faith and his family that stood as the cornerstones of his life. Jake was a member of Broadway Baptist Church, where he found solace and fellowship.
Jake was survived by his wife, Joanna; his children: Edward “JJ” Parker III, Scott Parker, and Jason Parker all of Cuba, MO, Kristan Pritt and husband, Randy of Sullivan, MO, Danielle O’Neal and Hannah Piper both of Cuba; 11 grandchildren: Devin, Taylor, Katelyn, Alan, Brooklyn, Houston, James, Angie, Landen, Leigha, & Lily; a sister, Patricia Blake of St. Clair, MO; an uncle, “JR” Parker of Steelville, MO; an numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
