Douglas D. Lesmeister, 77, of Viburnum, MO, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at StoneCrest Healthcare in Viburnum, MO.

Douglas Dwayne Lesmeister was born June 4, 1945 to Michael and Ellen (Larson) Lesmeister in Brainerd, MN. Following high school, Doug enlisted in to the United States Army where he honorably served our country for four years.

After his military service Doug traveled across the country working for various construction companies for 30 + years. Doug was a jack of all trades and was gifted in painting, general construction, HVAC, and plumbing. He even had the opportuniy to work in the country of Mexico and reside there for three years where he was given the nickname, “Coyote”.

In life, Doug was blessed with three children: Candida, Douglas Jr., and Alicia. Doug enjoyed duck hunting with his son Doug Jr., riding motorcycles, snow mobiles, and boating. Doug loved the night life and was always a free bird. He was a friend that everyone wishes they had.

He is survived by his children: Douglas Lesmeister Jr. and wife Susan of Kentucky, Candida Fleitman of Virginia and Alicia Cox and husband Aaron of Kentucky; nine grandchildren: Erika Keen, Blake Hinton, Trenton Lesmeister, Bradley Lesmeister, McKenzi Lesmeister, Kara Morris, Chloe Lesmeister, Sierra Hinton, and Greenlee Lesmeister; three great–grandchildren: Brayden, Elizabeth, and Knox; a sister, Donna Landcaster of Pennsylvania; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by a son in infancy; his father, Michael Joseph Lesmeister; and his mother, Ellen Larson; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Graveside services was held 1 p.m., Friday, August 5, 2022 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors and Matt Dudley officiating.

Visitation was 10:30 – 11:30 a.m., Friday, August 5, 2022 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

The family of Doug would like to give their appreciation to the caring staff that overseen his care for the past few years. They became his family. The love and compassion they showed was remarkable. They would also like to recognize Franky Todd for all of his assistance.

All arrangements are under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Sullivan.
