Dorothy M. Rivet

Dorothy M. Rivet, 91, of Sullivan, Missouri entered the arms of her Savior on Monday, May 9, 2022 at LifeCare Center of Sullivan.
Dorothy Mae Rivet was born on December 17, 1930 in Steelville, Missouri to Leslie and Edith (Payne) Trask. She grew up and attended school in various places, graduating from Sullivan High School in 1949. She was then united in marriage to the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Rivet on September 10, 1949 at Saint Anthony Catholic Church.
Together they were blessed with four children: Patricia, Thomas, Joseph & Julia. They continued to raise their family in Sullivan where they resided for the entirety of their lives. Dorothy and Bob enjoyed traveling together to Texas, Oklahoma and Georgia to visit family. She also loved gardening and canning their produce.
Dorothy was a tremendous and immaculate homemaker and supported her children in all their activities, even sometimes coaching their sports teams. She was phenomenal at baking and cooking and had a special sense of humor. Dorothy had a great sense of humor and enjoyed dining out from time to time. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great – grandchildren.
Dorothy was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of the Saint Anthony Catholic Church. She will be so dearly missed and lovingly remembered by many.
Dorothy was survived by her four children: Patricia “Patty” Pearson and husband Deacon Daniel of Dripping Springs, TX, Thomas “Tom” and wife Karen of Elgin, OK, Robert Joseph “Joe” Rivet and wife Donna of Lonedell, MO, & Julia “Julie” Lucas and husband Pete of Sullivan, MO; eight grandchildren: Phillip Pearson and wife Jessica, Justin Rivet and wife Kristie, Clayton Rivet, Heather Oldham and husband Matt, Michelle Hassard and husband Griffen, Sara Lucas, Rachel and husband Austin Trigg, and Kristin Lucas; 13 great – grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 66 years, Robert (Bob) Rivet; her parents; paternal grandparents, G.W. & Ethel Trask; maternal grandparents, Bill & Letha Payne; parents in law, Frank & Alice Rivet; half-brother, Dale Trask; three brother in laws: Vincent “Vince” Rivet, Kenneth Rivet and wife Irma, and Gene Rivet and wife Rosemary; two sister in laws, Mary Louise Bliss and husband Cecil (Lee) Bliss and Sue Trask.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at the Eaton Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Sullivan. Internment will follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Vincent’s De Paul and the St. Anthony Catholic Church.
