Donna Ann Elias, 68, of Villa Ridge, MO, passed away at home on March 10, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.  Born on October 30, 1955, in Bonne Terre, MO, to Walter and Glenda (Ames) Welch. Donna’s warm spirit and compassionate nature shone brightly throughout her life, touching the hearts of all who knew her.

Donna's journey through life was marked by love, service, and an unwavering dedication to her family. On November 30, 1970, she married Gary Johnson, and together they welcomed their beloved daughter Sara. The family's path took them to various places in Missouri, reflecting Gary's military service with the US Army. Eventually, they settled in Festus, where Donna found her calling, working with individuals with special needs. Her tremendous heart for those with disabilities became a central aspect of her life's work.

Gary passed away unexpectedly in 1996, leaving Donna and Sara to forge ahead from their home in Festus. Donna's resilience shone through as she continued to provide for her family, eventually moving to Sullivan in 1998. Undeterred, Donna carried on with her passion, finding fulfillment in her employment with Westwood Care Center in Bourbon, MO, and later with the Blue Springs Ranch.

Throughout her life, Donna found joy in simple pleasures. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Herculaneum and Pevely, where her faith nourished her spirit. Donna's love for reading, crocheting, and traveling spoke to her curious and creative soul, while her fondness for the outdoors reflected her appreciation for the world's natural beauty. Above all, Donna cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, embracing every moment with them.

Donna met her partner, Frank Deleski, with whom she shared nearly two decades of companionship and love. Their bond was a testament to Donna's capacity for love and commitment. In every aspect of her life, Donna embodied the role of a 'mom'—not just to her own children and grandchildren but to her children's friends as well. She was a 'safe place,' a haven of comfort and support to all who needed it.

Kind, selfless, and funny—these words best describe Donna. Her humor brought laughter to dull moments, her selflessness shone in her every action, and her kindness will never be forgotten. Donna's legacy is one of love and care, a reminder that the greatest impact we can have is through our relationships with others.

Donna is survived by her loving daughter, Sara Johnson and wife, Carolyn of Arnold, MO; her partner, Frank Deleski of Stanton, MO and bonus kids:  Rachell Deleski, Frankie Deleski and wife, Libby, and Nicole Deleski and significant other, Zach; five sisters:  Darlene Coplin of Farmington, MO, Tammy Romine of Bismarck, MO, Becky Coleman of Bonne Terre, MO, Patty Ramsey of Potosi, MO; Julie Matson of Licking, MO; a brother, Michael Welch of Herculaneum, MO; ten grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
