Donald J. Mickelson
Donald J. Mickelson, 71, of Sullivan, MO, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 21, 2021, surrounded by his family.
Donald was born on May 26, 1950 in Aitkin, Minnesota, to Vernon Gordon and Joanne (Hill) Mickelson. Don honorably served his county in the United States Marines from February 5, 1968 to February 11, 1969. He served in Vietnam and received the National Defense Service Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon and a Purple Heart. Through the years, Don owned and operated his own restaurant business, worked as a carpenter, and was employed by a nursing home. He was a very caring person and was always willing to help anyone in need. Don had a great sense of humor and loved his grandkids very much.
Don is survived by his children, Michelle Perkins and husband, Lou, of Sullivan, MO, and Troy Mickelson and fiancé, Lacie Bauer, of Rolla, MO; three grandchildren: Louis Perkins, Jr. and wife, Kayla, Cameron Tofte, and Devin Whitford and husband, Tony; as well as a host of great-grandchildren, several brothers and sisters, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Joanne Mickelson; and several siblings.
Cremation arrangements have taken place. There will be no services at this time.
