Donald H. Asberry, 88, of Sullivan, MO passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Phelps Health Medical Group in Rolla.

Donald Howard Asberry was born on May 10, 1934 in Ellington, MO to Grover and Nettie Lorene (Santhuff) Asberry. He was raised by his grandparents, Burgess and Rosa Santhuff. Don attended grade school in Ellington and soon went to work at the local sawmill. He later moved to St. Louis, where he worked various different jobs, including Chrome Craft for 2+ years. He spent the remainder of his career working for General Motors. After 30 years of service, Don retired from GM in 1987.

Don was united in marriage to Kathy Marie Saul on November 2, 1984 at First Baptist Church of Herculaneum. Throughout his life, Don was blessed with eight children: Sue, Rita, Gina, Judy, Shelly, Ginger, Michelle, and Rick.

In 1988, Don accepted Christ into his heart and was baptized. He was faithful from that point on. Don always loved music and playing guitar, so it was fitting that he would run the sound at Landmark and Countryside Baptist Church (for 30+ years). He also engineered sound at Mt. Zion for some time. Don really enjoyed old country and Christian music. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his family and friends.

Donald is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kathy Asberry; four children: Sue Crane of Hillsboro, MO, Rita Jones of Crystal City, MO, Gina Williams of Arnold, MO, and Shelly DeRousse and husband David of Festus, MO; two step-children, Rick Durbin and wife Mendi of New Haven, MO and Michelle Briggs of Sullivan, MO; one sister, Erma Asberry McNail and husband Robert of Ellington, MO; three step-sisters: Patricia Halverson of Las Vegas, NV, Joann Calley of Phoenix, AZ, and Carolyn Pierce of Phoenix, AZ; one half brother, Wayne Asberry and wife Sue of Globe, AZ; 24 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Randle; two grandchildren, Paul and Davina Crane; one great-grandson, Jarrod Gross; his parents, Grover and Nettie Asberry; one sister, Oneta Asberry Barton and her husband Dean; and one step-daughter, Ginger Durbin.

Funeral Services will be 12:00 PM, Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Chester Lahmann officiating. Interment will follow in Reedville Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Wednesday, prior to the service at Eaton Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions in Donald’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
