Don King, 88, of Sullivan, MO, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. He was surrounded by his loving family.

William Donald King was born July 16, 1933 in Sullivan, Missouri, to the late James Benjamin and Laura Leyette (Mason) King. Don honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Elsie Louise Eaton on October 10, 1959, and together they were blessed with six children: Patty, Mike, Donnie, Bobby, Jimmy and Danny.

Don’s adult life was spent successfully self-employed in the Commercial Construction Industry. At the age of 75, Don had a near death experience with lung cancer and he decided to dedicate his life to the Lord. Every opportunity he received, he would testify to others and share his story of his relationship with the Lord. Don was a proud member of the Sullivan Family Worship Center and rarely missed a service. Don was a very proud man and a great story teller. He loved telling stories of his time in the war and of his life in general.

Don loved all of family dearly and to them he was known as “Pop”. He was a very giving and generous man who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A few of his favorite past times were spent around the Goldfish Pond in the backyard, fishing, collecting Star Wars memorabilia and old model cars and trucks.

Don is survived by his wife, Elsie King, of Sullivan, MO; five children: Patricia Jones and husband Darrell of Eminence, MO, Donald King, Jr. of Bourbon, MO, Bobby King and wife Donna, Jimmy King and wife Lana, and Danny King and wife Tammy, all of Sullivan, MO; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Lonetta Garner of Sullivan, MO; nieces and nephews, other extended relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by one of his sons, John Michael King; his parents, James and Laura King; three brothers: James, Kermit and Robert King; and two sisters, Carol Busch and Orpha Marie Roberts.

Cremation arrangements have taken place. A private graveside memorial service will be held in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Sullivan, with Pastor Darrell Jones officiating. A Celebration of Life for Don will be held at Sullivan Family Worship Center on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 11 a.m. 1388 S Service Rd W (next to Ruby’s Guns & Cycle Shop). Extended family & friends are invited to attend.
