Dennis Edwin Gaskill
Dennis Edwin Gaskill, 63, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Missouri Baptist Hospital – St. Louis.
Dennis was born in Washington, MO, on March 8, 1958, to Louis “Bud” and June Rose (Moss) Gaskill. He grew up and attended school in Sullivan. Dennis was united in marriage to Sandra Lynn Flyzik on January 21, 1988 and together they had one daughter, Casandra. Dennis was employed as a custodian for the Sullivan C-2 School District for 30 years, retiring in 2011. He was a quiet man who enjoyed observing others. He was also a jokester and wonderful story teller. Dennis had a passion for John Wayne movies, John Deere tractors and golden retrievers. He was known for his famous quotes, such as, “I’m off to fly a kite in a birdcage”. Dennis adored his three grandsons and enjoyed spending time with them, whether they were fishing or just moving the tractor together.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Sandra (Flyzik) Gaskill, of Sullivan, MO; one daughter, Casandra Gaskill and husband Gabe of Centerton, AR; three beloved grandsons: Mason, Gavin and Logan; two sisters, Patricia Strothcamp and Kathleen McCulloch, both of Sullivan, MO; his aunt, Anita Jones of Sullivan, MO; honorary daughter, Kristina Simington; nieces and nephews: Erin Smith and husband Kyle, David McCulloch and wife Victoria, Daniel Strothcamp and wife Adriana and Lindsey Rose Reichart and husband Tom; many great-nieces and nephews; in-laws: Lisa Lambing and husband Steve, Natalie Lambing and fiancé Logan Shanks, Whitney Snelson and husband Korey, Stephanie Bartle and husband Jim, Tony Flyzik and wife Dawn, Bryan Flyzik, Becky Morland and husband Lennie, Tonya Holt and husband Chris, Mike Flyzik, Jason Flyzik and wife Cheri, Kyle and A.J. Flyzik; honorary sister-in-law, Tina Lewis; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis “Bud” and June Gaskill; two siblings in infancy; and two brothers-in-law, David Strothcamp and John McColloch.
Funeral Mass was celebrated 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with Father Paul Telken officiating.
Visitation was held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, March 7, 2022 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
