Cynthia Louise “Cindy” McFarland

Cynthia Louise “Cindy” McFarland, 66, of Sullivan, MO, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2023.  A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, she was born on July 26, 1957, in Palo Alto, CA to John and Margaret (Haynes) Lewis.  

Cindy grew up and attended school in California before moving as a young girl with her family to St. Louis in 1964.  Eventually the Lewis family made their home in Stanton.  While working in Sullivan at Tom’s Snack Bar, she met and fell in love with her sweetheart, Randy McFarland. The couple was married on March 25, 1974, in Sullivan, marking the beginning of a beautiful partnership that would span nearly five decades. Cindy and Randy had five children: Maggie, Dwayne, Cassie, Jason, and Travis, whom they raised with love and devotion. They initially lived in Stanton, near Cindy's family, before moving to their current home in Sullivan in 1988.

Cindy's nurturing spirit extended beyond her family to the community of Sullivan. She worked for many years at the LifeCare Center of Sullivan, providing care and comfort to those in need. Even after retiring in 2013, Cindy remained a steadfast caregiver, always putting others' needs before her own.

Cindy's interests were as varied and abundant as her love for her family. Her favorite place on earth was the Lake of the Ozarks, where she loved to relax and unwind. She had a passion for reading, shopping, and visiting area flea markets. Cindy also loved watching old sitcoms and going on car rides with Randy. But most of all, she cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to whom she was lovingly known as "Nana."

Cindy was the beloved matriarch of a large and loving family. She is survived by her husband, Randy; her children, Maggie Mueller and husband Justin of Bourbon, MO, Dwayne McFarland and wife Jill of Washington, MO, Cassie McFarland and Jason McFarland both of Sullivan, MO and Travis McFarland and wife Rachel of St. Clair, MO; 16 grandchildren:  Lexi Box and husband, Lane of Bourbon, Noah Mueller and fiancée, Lexi Self of Sullivan, Ian Mueller of Bourbon, Makenzie Pellin and husband, Aiden of Union, MO, Anna McFarland of Washington, MO, Taylor Reiner & Samantha Reiner both of Sullivan, Payten McFarland of Pacific, MO, Jacob McFarland & Ashley McFarland both of Florida state, Hayden McFarland of Bourbon, Jordan McFarland & Lucas McFarland both of St. Clair, Maggie McFarland of Sullivan, Oriyen Furdek & Ellaina Easter both of St. Clair; three precious great-grandchildren:  Emily, Rhett & Navy; three sisters:  Becky DeClue (Ed Usery) of Stanton, MO, Margie Sanders and husband, Jack of Bourbon, MO, and Tina Lewis of Bell, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Lewis; her parents-in-law, Floyd and Audenia McFarland; and an infant sister, Diana Lewis.

Services are not planned at this time and cremation arrangements will take place.
