CWO, Gerald ‘Jerry’ L. Thompson

CWO, Gerald “Jerry” L. Thompson, US Navy retired, 79, of Macedonia, SC, died Thursday, October 13 in a Charleston hospital.

CWO Thompson was born November 8, 1942, in St. Louis, MO, a son of Virgil S. Thompson and Marie Woodruff Thompson. He was a member of the Oak Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church where he was a former Sunday school teacher and a former deacon. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. Jerry enjoyed camping, working, playing with his dogs, old cars, but must of all enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. CWO Thompson is also a retired construction maintenance planner for Santee Cooper.

He is predeceased by a sister, Kathy Strauser and a brother, Leroy Thompson.

Surviving are his wife, Rita Wiggins Thompson; three sons, Rev. Greg Thompson and his wife Sarah of Georgetown, Denny Thompson and his wife Kelly, and Gary Lee Thompson all of Macedonia; a sister, Shirley Robinson and her husband Edward of Pensacola, FL; sister-in-law, Inge Thompson of Pensacola, FL; a brother, Jim Thompson and his wife Jackie of Sullivan, MO; eight grandchildren Loren Graham and her husband Drew, Cody Thompson and his wife Christen, Ashton Thompson, Emily Nichols and her husband Devon, Haley Thompson, Nicholas Thompson and his wife Jerzei, Allison Thompson, and Chelsea Shuler; seven great-grandchildren, Skyler, Ava, Jessi, SK, Oliver, Andi, and Everett; and his loving pets, Boo Boo and Fee Fee.
