Curtis E. Renick

Curtis E. Renick, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the age of 90 years. 

Curtis was born on April 16, 1931 in Sullivan, MO to Albert L. Renick and Geraldine L. Renick (Halmick), one of three children. He was united in marriage to Aliese Renick (Binkholder) on October 15, 1955 at Holy Martyrs of Japan Church. To this marriage they were blessed with three children, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. 

A beloved and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, Curtis worked hard to provide and care for his family. 

Curtis served in the Navy as a Gunners Mate Third Class. He toured on USS Macon and USS Severn. Places he traveled were the Mediterranean, Pacific and Atlantic Ocean. 

Through the years, his jobs included working at a local shoe factory in Japan, MO, Ramsey, Pea Ridge Mine, and Franklin County Highway Department, where he worked until he retired. Him and his wife also purchased and started from scratch, the Trading Post Gas Station. They owned and operated their business for many years. 

Curtis had many interests and hobbies. He was an award winning boxer in the navy, and won several tournaments. He enjoyed bowling, shooting matches, skeet shooting and boating. He loved to hunt and fish at home in the woods or on the river. He also enjoyed raising cattle and caring for the farm. In his early years, he raised German Shepherd guard dogs and walker hounds, both which were highly sought after. Two of his favorites were Rusty, a German shepherd, and “Old Blue” a prize winning Blue Tick hound. 

Curtis was known as a kind, big hearted, generous, caring, strong man. He always had a smile and a hello, and was full of stories to tell. He loved his family and friends very much and enjoyed spending time with them. 

Curtis is survived by three children: Rocky Renick of Sullivan, MO, Larry Renick of Leslie, MO, and Terri Renick of Sullivan, MO; six grandchildren: Lauryn Bouckaert, Joshua Coppedge, Alexandra Renick, Nicole Renick-Coppedge, Darin Chaney, and Justin Coppedge; six great-grandchildren: Clay, Caroline, Rogue, Chloe, Hailey, and Drake; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Aliese Renick (Binkholder); his parents, Albert and Geraldine; and two brothers, Charles and Kenny. 

A mass of Catholic burial was celebrated 11 a.m., Friday, January 14, 2022 at Holy Martyrs Catholic Church.

Visitation was held from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m., Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
