Cora Christine Ritchie

Cora Christine Ritchie, known as Chris, 77 of Bourbon, MO passed away Monday, January 16, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.
Chris was born on September 26, 1945 in Sacramento, California to Huey Oren and Beulah Christine (Rathbone) Virgen. She attended and graduated from Fox High School in Fox, Oklahoma graduating in 1963. She was the Drum Major for her school band and also twirled the regular Baton and the Fire Baton. Chris furthered her education at East Central College in Union, MO receiving a Degree in Hospitality Management. She maintained a 4.0 and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Chris was employed for many years in various positions including bookkeeping and managing hotels however, being a wife and mom was her most treasured role.
Chris was united in marriage to Larry Ritchie, Jr. on October 5, 1968 in St. Louis, MO and three sons were born, Richard Shawn, Billy Wade and Johnny Lance. The Ritchie family lived in many different towns and cities in Missouri and even Oklahoma, Bourbon being their final home. Chris loved riding and showing horses, reading, watching Agatha Christie Murder Mysteries and the Rifleman. Chris was a Christian and of the Baptist Faith. She had made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ and enjoyed talking about Jesus. She also enjoyed reading God’s word and liked for her family to read to her also. Chris was a wonderful wife, mother and grandma. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Chris is survived by her three sons, Richard Ritchie and wife Heather of New Haven, MO, Billy Ritchie and wife Shawna Lawson of Bourbon, MO, Johnny Ritchie and girlfriend, Candi Dietrich of Pacific, MO; four grandchildren, Dylan, Hailey, Channing and Isabella Ritchie; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Chris was preceded in death by her husband Larry Ritchie, Jr. on January 5, 2015; her parents, Oren and Beulah Virgen; and one sister, Carolyn Virgen.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, MO.
