Cleo Patrick (Pat) Paul - 85, of Stanton and Hermann, MO, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023.

Pat was born on October 24, 1937, in Anthonies Mill, MO, to Clyde and Lennie (Bishop) Paul.  Pat grew up in the Sullivan and Bourbon areas and loved working on, and racing “hot-rods” as a young man. His love of cars defined his long career in Automotive, primarily as a mechanic. He worked at Tucker Motor in Sullivan, owned a garage/gas station for a while to “play-in” on weekends, and retired from Kribs Ford City in St. Louis after many years of service. He was a long-time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Sullivan and Hermann.

Pat and his former wife, Georgia Ohlendorf, raised five children in their farmhouse in Sherwood Forest. There he taught his children the virtues of a strong work ethic, faith and resolve in the face of adversity, compassion for all of God’s creatures, humor, and dedication to his family. He also shared his love for mechanics, camping, hunting, shooting matches, fishing, cooking a few specialties “chili isn’t worth eating unless it makes you sweat”, and Sunday afternoon trips to the swimming holes or frozen skate ponds with his children. He was a natural musician, a kind-yet-firm and patient father, who was always a great source of strength and love to his children. His stories, silly jokes, and the sound of his laughter will be greatly missed.

In 2004, Pat met his love, Katie (Walt) Cook on the banks of the Gasconade River, and on April 1, 2006, they were married at St. John’s UCC-Stolpe. They have made many memories between their homes in Stanton and Hermann, their time fishing on the Gasconade, caring for their beloved dogs over the years, watching NFL games, cheering on the K.C. Chiefs (“Go Chiefs!”), and being fun loving friends to many.

Pat is survived by his wife Katie and their beloved pup, Pumpkin; all five of his children: Paula Gaertner, Eric Gaertner, Patrick E. Paul & wife Stacie, Anna (Paul) Cook, Amy (Paul) Calva & husband Angel; eleven grandchildren: Michael Lamb, Sophia Lamb, Amanda Gaertner, Ashley Gaertner, Alison Paul, Chase Cook, Nadia Cook, Kendall Cook, Jaylen Cook, Gianni Calva, and Giorgio Calva, five great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and  friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Lennie Paul, five brothers: Oran, Trenton, Robert, and Calvin Paul, an infant brother Victor, and one sister, Jean (Paul) Webb.

A memorial service, celebration of life, and dinner will be held at the Sullivan Eagles Hall on Friday, February 10th at 5:00 PM for anyone who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Pat's memory may be made to the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3781 in Sullivan, MO, or St. John’s UCC-Stolpe, Reference: Steeple Fund, P.O. Box 561, Hermann, MO 65041
