Christopher Neal Alexander, 67, of Bourbon, MO passed away at his home Friday, February 25, 2022.

Cris was born in Sullivan, Mo., on January 12, 1955, to Chleo Sue and Curtis Neal Alexander. He grew up in Sullivan, and graduated from Sullivan High School, class of 1973, and remained in the area until his death. Cris married his high school sweetheart, Marjean Ann Hickinbotham, of Anaconda, Mo., on June 21, 1975. They were blessed with three children: Christopher “Jason,” Jennell Jean, and Jeremy James.

After leaving the Navy in 1977, Cris joined his parents working in the family business of Sullivan Propane, eventually moving on to work and manage Marlen Gas Co in St. Clair for 23 years. He then started his own business, Alexander Propane, in 2006. Cris took pride in his work and exceeded in customer service.

Cris’ hobbies included boxing, bass fishing, deer hunting, turkey hunting, golfing, card playing, horseback riding, riding his Harley motorcycle and having family weekends at the cabin on the river boating and kayaking.

Cris had a personality that attracted people and he had many circles of friends. He was loved and well respected by all. He was kind, generous, caring, fun, trustworthy, forgiving, encouraging and authentic. He was often known to play the part of peacemaker among family and friends.

Cris was diagnosed with ALS July 8, 2014. Through his ALS journey his relationship with the Lord grew and his concern for the salvation of others. He was baptized in the Meramec River, signifying the change that Christ had made in his life.

Though many looking on from the outside would describe the last years of Cris’ life as being marked by illness and difficulty, the last seven and a half years of Cris’ life were considered by him to be a gift from God, one which he would never take back. Through ALS and the challenges it brought, his love for his family only grew. It was through the loss of so many of his physical abilities, that the Lord taught Cris to trust Him and point others to do the same. His repetition of the words “I trust you Jesus” got him through each day and trial at hand.

Cris is survived by his wife, Marjean; three children: Jason Alexander and his wife, Holly, of Sullivan, Jennell Wallis and her husband, Randy, of Bourbon, and Jeremy Alexander and his wife, Maggie, of Sullivan; ten grandchildren: Landon, Emily Anne, Elijah, Trevor, Garrett, Blake, Keara, Ava, Davaney & Deacon; two brothers, Curt Alexander and his wife, Carole, of Bourbon and Clay Alexander and his wife, Cheryl, of Lampe, Mo.; three sisters: Cathy Alexander of Sullivan, Cheri Weggemann and her husband, Jerry, of Fenton, Mo. and Caren Waldo and her husband, Darren, of St. Clair, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Chleo Alexander.
