Charles Curtiss ‘Corky’ Saul II

Charles Curtiss “Corky” Saul II, 74, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Monday, March 14, 2022 at Missouri Baptist Hospital – St. Louis.

Charles was born in Bremerton, WA, on May 9, 1947, to the late Charles Curtiss I and Ruth Kendrick Saul. Corky was a military kid and grew up in various parts of the country, including the Philippians and many other Navy ports. Corky also served in the United States Army, joining when he was just 17 years old.

In 1958, Corky and his family moved to Sullivan, where he met and married Tresa Ann Harper on August 19, 1972. Charles and Tresa would have celebrated 50 years together this August. One son, Charles Curtiss III, was born to their union. Corky was employed as a Laser Operator for Ace Rocwell in Sullivan, a school bus driver for the Sullivan School District for 20 years, and as a bus driver for the Arapahoe Campground for 20 years.

Corky coached the Sullivan Boxing Team for many years. He really enjoyed inspiring and teaching young people to box. He had a great team. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and wood carving. Many of his friends were recipients of his wood carvings.

Corky is survived by his wife, Tresa Saul; one son, Charles Curtiss Saul III, known as Chuck; one grandson, Charles C. Saul IIII, known as Chaz; two sisters, Barbara Terris and Kathy Ashberry and husband Don, all of Sullivan, MO; cousins, Dennis Kendrick and Mike Phelps; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Along with his parents, Corky was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Rocky Terris; and one nephew, Conrad Paul II.

Cremation arrangements have taken place.

A Celebration of Life Gathering was held from 2-5 p.m., on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at the Sullivan Eagles Hall.
