Bruce Rice
Bruce R. Rice, 81, of Sullivan, MO, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 16, 2021, with his wife Linda by his side.
Bruce Robert was born on January 7, 1940 in Holstein, Iowa, to Frank Kermit and Viola Corrin (West) Rice. After graduating from High School, Bruce attended Iowa State College and was employed by the Forestry Service in the state of Washington. He honorably serviced his country in the United States Army from October 18, 1962 to October 15, 1965. In 1971, Bruce went to work for Alton Boxboard, which eventually became Smurfit Stone Construction Corporation. He remained at their Pacific location until he retired.
On August 29, 1992, Bruce was united in marriage to Linda Pashia Cash and they were blessed with 29 years together. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, crafting, reading and watching sports. Bruce was a member of the Sullivan Christian Church.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Linda Rice of Sullivan, MO; two sons, Robert Rice and wife Rebecca of O’ Fallon, MO, and Michael Hearn and wife Stacia of Las Vegas, NV; two step-children, William Cash, III and Tammy Cash Warren and husband Donald; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kermit Rice and wife Carolyn of Mankato, MN, and Stephen Rice and wife Jean of Anamosa, IA; two sisters, Helen Thomas of Kingsley, IA, and Martha Kraus of Vermillion, SD; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Viola; and a brother, Milton Rice.
Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 26, 2021, at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, with Pastor John Blackmore officiating.
Interment, with full military honors, followed in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
Visitation was held from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m., Monday, prior to the service at Eaton Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions in Bruce’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
