Brent L. Smith

Brent L. Smith, 38, of Leasburg, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Missouri Baptist Hospital – Sullivan.

Brent Lynn Smith was born in Rolla, Missouri, on September 29, 1983, to Paul and Carol (West) Smith. He grew up and attended school in Bourbon and graduated from Bourbon High School, class of 2002. While in high school, Brent also attended Rolla Technical Institute, where he took mechanical courses. After high school, Brent furthered his education at Linn Tech, where he obtained a tech degree in heavy equipment operation.

Brent was employed by several different construction companies through the years; however, for most of his working career he was employed through the IBEW Local 2. He worked as a groundsman operator in various places across the United States.

The biggest blessings in Brent’s life were his two sons, Payton and Haiden. As a single father, he raised his family in Leasburg. Brent treasured time spent with his boys, whether they were on the river, camping at different locations, working the farm, riding side by sides, or occasionally gigging. Brent attended church at The Ridge of Sullivan and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and followed in believers’ baptism in 2020.

Brent had the biggest heart a person could have. He was so generous and would never hesitate to give the shirt off of his back for anyone in need. Brent was always smiling, laughing and carefree. Above all, he was a loving and devoted father. He will be so dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Brent is survived by his two sons, Payton and Haiden Smith of Leasburg, MO; his mother, Carol Smith of Leasburg, MO; two sisters, Crystal Monda and husband Carl of Leasburg, MO and Christal Corea and husband Carlos of St. Roberts, MO; a brother, Joeseph Smith and wife Jennifer of Nixa, MO; eight nieces & nephews: Austin, Evan, Owen, Camron, Chloe, Carmen, Marcus & Felix; numerous aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul; paternal grandparents, Charlie & Dorothy Smith; maternal grandparents, Bernard & Hilda West; and an uncle, Brent West.

A Remembrance Memorial Service was 12 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Eaton Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Dudley officiating. Brent will be laid to rest in Lea Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation was 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Thursday, prior to the service at Eaton Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a benefit account for Brent’s sons, Payton and Haiden, at Town and Country Bank in Bourbon.
