Billy G. Machelett, 85, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Missouri Baptist Hospital – Sullivan.

Billy was born on June 22, 1936 in Union, MO to the late William Carl and Mabel (Hoeft) Machelett. He was united in marriage to Nancy Collins and to this union five beautiful children were born: Micah, Leanne, Jean, Bill and Nathan. Nancy preceded Bill in death on February 13, 1985. Bill was employed as a heavy equipment operator most all of his life. He worked for a total of 45 years in the Lake St. Louis area. Later in life, Bill met Nellie D. Cox and they were married on June 12, 1992.

The river was Bill’s favorite place to be. He enjoyed many good times with his river friends, Mark and Teddy Johnson. He also enjoyed hunting with his dogs, riding motorcycles and working on his old truck. Bill’s greatest joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren. They all had him wrapped around their little fingers. Bill and Nellie attended The Ridge Church of Sullivan. He will be missed by his family and many friends.

Billy is survived by his wife, Nellie Machelett, of Sullivan, MO; his children: Micah Machelett and wife Cindy, Leanne Machelett, Bill Machelett and wife Lisa, and Nathan Machelett, all of Sullivan, MO; one step-son, Jeff Click and wife Teresa of Sullivan, MO; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; four brothers: Carl Machelett, Wayne Machelett, Joe Machelett and Jim Machelett and wife Cheri, all of Union, MO; two sisters, Pam Helton of Sullivan, MO and Mary Ellen Hoeft of Washington, MO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Machelett; his daughter, Jean Cornman; great-grandson, Gavin Cornman; step-son, Jack Click; his parents, William and Mabel; and one sister, Linda Ulrey.

Memorial services for Billy will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at The Ridge Church in Sullivan, with Pastor Matt Dudley and Mr. Duke West officiating.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Wednesday, prior to the service at The Ridge Church.
