Betty J. Stotler, 65 of Bourbon, Missouri, passed away peacefully in Sullivan, Missouri on Thursday, December 28, 2023. Born on May 25, 1958, in Saint Louis, Missouri, to Robert and Lorene (West) Protte, Betty spent her childhood growing up in Bourbon.

A dedicated homemaker, she devoted her early years to raising her three beloved daughters, Kimberly, Cindy, and Serenity, in Cuba, Missouri. Betty’s world revolved around her family, creating a home filled with love and gentle guidance. After her daughters had grown, she briefly joined the workforce at the Combs Residential Care. Ultimately, her heart led her back to her true calling of being a homemaker.

Betty was a homebody at heart who adored children and often opened her home for babysitting. Her hobbies included solving word searches, watching her favorite shows on the Hallmark Channel and Crime TV, and she found joy in rearranging her house and furniture. Betty enjoyed collecting Native American décor, anything related to Betty Boop and was an avid yardsaler!

Betty remained a strong willed and determined person even through her cancer diagnosis. She continued to face each day with grit and grace. She will be so dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

She is survived by her three daughters: Kimberly Alvey and husband Andrew of Leasburg, Missouri, Cindy Robertson and significant other, Dean Buchanan of Steelville, Missouri and Serenity Lietar and husband Shawn of Arizona; eight grandchildren: Abby, Aden, Joseph, Nicholas, Madison, Zara, Cienna and Chance; two great grandchildren, Samaria and Grayson; a sister, Peggy Gargus of Bourbon, Missouri; four brothers: Billy Mallow of Texas, Stanley Protte of Bourbon, Missouri, Gary Protte and wife Stephanie of Leasburg, Missouri, Roger “Squirrel” Protte and wife Peggy of Leasburg, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Philip Stotler; her parents, Robert and Lorene; and three brothers: Jimmy, Kevin, and Bobby.

Because of Betty’s love of yard sales, A Celebration of Life Yard Sale will be held in her memory at a later date. All proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
