Alfred Williams

Alfred Williams, age 90 of Sullivan, MO formerly of the Lake of the Ozarks, passed away Monday, October 30, 2023 at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia, MO.
Alfred Olean was born on February 2, 1933 in Lebanon, MO, one of six children born to Rama Lee and Alma Jane (Lillard) Williams. Alfred was known as Orlean in his home town of Lebanon and Al to most everyone else. He attended and graduated from Lebanon High School class of 1951. He honorably served his country in the United States Army from March 11, 1953 to March 1, 1955 in the Korean War. Al was united in marriage to Betty Lee Carr on February 18, 1953 in Crocker, MO and two sons were born, Clifford and Richard. Al and Betty raised their family in the Ballwin area until 1975.
Alfred was employed as lineman for Local #2 where he was crew foreman for L.E. Myers, Capital and PAR Electric. He worked for Union Electric for many years and retired from line work numerous times. In 1975, Al and Betty purchased Mike’s Resort in Osage Beach on Lake Road 54-29. They built new cabins, added a store and swimming pool. They ran the resort for ten years, selling but remaining at the Lake, residing in Linn Creek. In their later years, Al and Betty made their final home in Sullivan to be near their son Cliff. Al enjoyed fishing and hunting. He ran his trot line for many years at the resort and at their home in Linn Creek. In 1967, Al began an annual hunting trip to Colorado and he never missed an Elk season for 45 years. He had very fond memories of the good times spent with his Lebanon hunting buddies.
Alfred is survived by his wife Betty Williams of Sullivan, MO; one son Clifford Williams and wife Cindra of Sullivan, MO; three grandchildren, Melissa Hampton and husband Ben of Bourbon, MO, Lindsey Jasper and husband Ben of Washington, MO, Dean Williams and wife Kayla of Louisiana; five great-grandchildren, Thea and Rhett Hampton, Nolan and Landon Jasper and Alister Williams; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Rama and Alma Williams; one son Richard Williams; three brothers, Glenn, Ralph and John Williams; and two sisters, Mary Lea Rhoades and Shirley Riley; and daughter-in-law, Katherine Williams.
Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 PM, Thursday, November 2, 2023 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Kyle Phillips officiating. Cremation will follow with burial of cremains beside his son Richard in I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Thursday, at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
