Albert Erwin Schulze, known to many as Al, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2023, in Saint Louis, MO. Born on January 5, 1945, in New York, NY, to Albert and Mildred (Winn) Schulze. Al was a man of many talents and interests who lived his life with passion and dedication.

Raised in the Saint Louis area, Al was a proud graduate of Lindbergh High School, class of 1963. After school, he embarked on a career in the printing industry. Al spent his entire career working for various printing companies, finally retiring from SLU in 2003. Despite his retirement, Al never lost his industrious spirit. He found a new passion in woodworking, creating beautiful pieces in his shop that he even began selling, turning his hobby into a successful side hustle.

Al's personal life was as rich and fulfilling as his professional one. In his early years, he was blessed with two children, Brian and Christine. In 1975, he united in marriage with Barb Hasler, together blending their families and raising their children in the Saint Louis area. Al and Barb were blessed with 48 years of marriage, a union that only ended with Barb's passing in February of 2023.

An eternal learner, Al had a deep love for words and language. His study housed a massive dictionary, a testament to his desire to constantly expand his vocabulary. This love for learning was paralleled by his talent for music. From his childhood, Al was a gifted pianist. He played in a family band with his siblings, the Albert Starlight Band, performing big band music and traveling all around the Saint Louis metropolitan area. Al's music was a source of joy for many, especially his beloved wife Barb, for whom he frequently played.

Al was also a man of many hobbies. He had a knack for tinkering with all sorts of technology, always eager to understand how things worked. He and Barb loved to travel, frequently embarking on cruises and visiting the Smoky Mountains and the Wisconsin Dells. When they weren't traveling, they enjoyed dining together at the Lewis Cafe in Saint Clair, treasuring their time together.

Al is survived by his three children: Brian Schulze and companion Julie Wussler of Saint Charles, MO, Bryan Smith and wife Paula of Oakville, MO, and Christine Edwards of Brisco, MO; seven wonderful grandchildren: AJ Schulze of Troy, MO, Jacob Wussler, Lucas Wussler, Cole Wussler all of Saint Charles, MO, Justin Smith of Saint Louis, Carlie Smith and husband Adam of Oakville and Jordan Cushman of Cape Girardeau, MO; numerous great – grandchildren; five siblings: Corky Schulze, Ricky Schulze and wife Wilma, Timmy Schulze and wife Chris, Danny Schulze and wife Megan, Heidi Paszkiewicz and Sally Kopsky; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barb; his parents, Albert and Mildred; a brother, Bill Schulze; and a sister-in-law, Debbie Schulze.

A Remembrance Memorial Service will be held 12 pm , Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor John Blackmore officiating.

Visitation will be 10 am – 12 pm , Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Eaton Funeral Home prior to the memorial service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the International Lions Club.
