Bourbon Fired Up For Annual BBQ Festival

Bourbon’s signature event of the summer is almost here.

The eighth annual Bourbon BBQ Festival takes over downtown on Saturday. Competitors will travel in from all corners to make prize-winning ribs, pork steaks and chicken.

The Bourbon Economic Development Group is the host of the event, which has blossomed into a destination for the area.

It is one of the region’s most popular events, drawing attendees from far and wide to enjoy a day of smoked meats, carnival food and craft vendors.

The festival also takes place smack dab on the historic Route 66. As the Mother Road celebrates its 100th anniversary, Saturday’s festival is sure to bring in out-of-state travelers who get to experience Bourbon at its best.

The festival opens at 10 a.m., with a shuttle available at Bourbon Elementary School.

Parking will be available throughout Pine Street, Old Highway 66 and College Street. Vendor parking will be available at the lot next to Bourbon Roller Mill, First United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church.

Vendors, children’s activities and the silent auction begins, with the People’s Choice voting also getting a start.

Dalton Harper Band takes the stage to provide an afternoon of music beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Voting for the People’s Choice and silent auction will continue until 3 p.m. Winners will be announced at 3:30 p.m.
