Boys Basketball Sinks In Second Win At Herky
The Eagles (2-15) snapped their eight-game losing skid at the 10th Annual Bruce Thomas Tournament. They trounced Hancock 55-24 for seventh place and their second win of the season. Sullivan’s 55-24 rout came after losing 72-56 to Valley Park (14-3) and 41-40 to the hosting Black Cats (2-12).
Valley Park
In the opening round, Chris Glaser topped the Eagles with four steals. The senior also racked up 20 points, four rebounds and three assists. He drained 7-15 of his field goals, 4-7 of his two-pointers and 3-4 of his free throws.
Peyton Malady dished out a team-high four assists. He also dropped 20 points and hauled in 5 boards. The junior went 10-11 from the free-throw line and 5-8 inside the arc.
Seth Valley broke away with 10 points, seven rebounds, a steal and an assist.
Robert York torched the court with seven rebounds, 4 points and three assists.
Landen Doza stacked up 2 points, two assists and two rebounds.
The Eagles gave it their all with 25 rebounds, 13 assists and 5 steals. They shot 19-47 from the field, 15-28 inside the arc, 4-19 from the three-point line and 14-17 from the charity stripe. 13 fouls and 11 turnovers held Sullivan back.
Herculaneum
Glaser led Sullivan at the net with 14 points against the Black Cats. He also clawed out 2 assists, two steals and a rebound.
York hit the glass for a team-high 12 rebounds. He also swished in 2 points and scooped up a steal.
Valley stacked up 6 points, 3 assists, 3 rebounds and a steal.
Malady put up 8 points, four rebounds, two steals and two assists.
Doza landed six of his buckets while grabbing a steal and a board.
Braxton Breen bagged three assists, two rebounds and a steal.
Cooper Donner dropped 2 points, made a steal and hauled in a board.
Brayden White drained 2 points and snagged a rebound.
Sullivan racked up 25 rebounds, 10 assists and nine steals. They went 13-39 on field goals, 5-14 on two-pointers, 8-25 on threes and 6-12 on free throws. The Eagles surrendered 17 fouls and 16 turnovers on the floor.
